Sigur Rós, the Icelandic band, known for their ethereal, post-rock sound palette, evoking the combined aesthetics of rock, classical Euro- pean music, and minimalism, has become somewhat of a household name over the past twenty years. However, their increasing popularity has not diminished their experimental spirit, and to this day, their highly atmospheric music captures the natural beauty and magnificence of Iceland.
‘Lost At Sea’ intends to capture, explore, and recast the captivating sonic landscapes woven by Sigur Rós through a combination of free improvisation and structured compositions. The works included in this CD exist along the line of re-arrangement and homage, with mo- ments featuring more direct references to Sigur Rós's work ('Lost At Sea', for example) and others that are more evocative and subtle ('Victory & The Rose').
Lost At Sea will take you on a fascinating journey through a sonic landscape inspired by the work of Sigur Rós, lensed and constructed by the creative voices of Dan Banks, José Canha, Trevor Taylor, and Robin Porter.
All compositions and arrangements by Dan Banks. |
